A Detoxifying Flow for Spring

Allow this three hour Detoxifying Spring Flow practice to cleanse your body and spirit of residual winter sluggishness. Twisting and massaging the digestive system allows for a fresh sense of clarity and lightness, creating the space to also flush and recharge our energy channels. Together we will consciously create fluidity with a solid presence, grounding ourselves in preparation for flight.

The Ayurvedic Kapha season, which includes late winter and first part of spring, is governed by the elements of Earth and Water, and is characterized by cold, wet, heavy and "sticky" qualities. This can manifest itself in various forms of stagnation in our bodies, hearts, and minds, including respiratory congestion, sluggish digestion, lowered metabolism and immune system, lack of motivation and seasonal depression. This strengthening and energizing sequence will help uplift the downward pull of the Kapha energy, setting the ground of your renewal, rejuvenation and well-being.

This Detoxifying Spring Flow will help you flush out any winter congestion, re-gain vitality, and feel a sense of awakening, renewal and balance. In yoga, twists are essential for detoxing, as the internal organs are cleansed and the spine is ‘rung out,' encouraging lots of blood flow and an invigorated nervous system.

In addition to firing up the body and getting our heart rate up, we will also focus on nourishing the energy channels — the nadis and the meridians — that support the liver, the gallbladder and the kidneys. This thorough spring cleaning will flush and charge all of your physical, emotional, and energetic systems. You may be a little sore the next day, but it will be well worth the challenge.
